"Bag Envy" by quantum"Bag Envy" is one of two winning designs for the inaugural Green Eyed Monster competition, Live Enviably. Green Eyed Monster loved artist Bill Nagel's subtle, effective representation of the company's live enviably message. Here's what he had to say about his design and his life as an artist: "The idea for my image is two-fold. One is the obvious idea that cheap plastic bags would be envious of a nice tote bag. But the second and more important idea is that the more tote bags people use, the less plastic bags we will have filling up the environment. So the drawing shows how one tote bag has the potential to rid our landscape of many cheap plastic bags." Bill Nagel is a full time architect and freelance illustrator living in Minnesota with his wife and 4 year old son. They are expecting their second child any day now. In addition to illustration and architecture, he is also an independent filmmaker and the co-founder of Quantum Petshop, an independent production company. Green Eyed Monster offers more than just bags.
GreenEyedMonster promotes the BYOB (Bring Your Own Bag) movement by offering a versatile, artistic, and reusable alternative to disposable shopping bags.
Their goal is to create a hoard of fellow monsters, each carrying a hip, eco-friendly tote to the local grocer, mall, farmer's market, or drugstore. Every time you BYOB you set an example and encourage others to follow suit. One monster can help change the world! Come on, give it a try!
GreenEyedMonster uses art for awareness. Their eco-driven competitions focus on different environmental issues and a portion of sales are donated to the environmental groups working to correct the same issues displayed on their great bags. When someone asks about your GreenEyedMonster tote, you get to help spread the word about the BYOB movement and the environmental issue featured on your bag.
Green Eyed Monster’s interactive art community allows YOU the consumer to take part in selecting what images shall be featured, what issues are most important, and what aspect of the environment you want to champion. So get involved and spread the monster love!
In keeping with GreenEyedMonster’s goal of living enviably, these wonderful reusable bags are made from 100% post-consumer materials, and are manufactured in the USA using sustainable practices.
Each GreenEyedMonster tote is made of 100% post-consumer recycled cotton fabric and recycled plastic bottles by a hip woman- and family-owned company in New Hampshire.
The bags are natural in color and sized at 20” wide x 15” tall x 6” deep with 25” handles.
Green Eyed Monster’s postcard “tag” is printed on 100% post-consumer waste recycled paper processed chlorine-free with soy-based ink. They have attached their tag with a paperclip because paperclips are made of readily recyclable material and can be reused again and again (unlike standard tag attachers made of plastic). Please reuse your paperclip!
Their shipping maternails are also recycled. We ship large orders in reused boxes and single bags in recycled envelopes.
All paper, stickers, file folders, and other GreenEyedMonster office supplies are made of the highest post-consumer content we can find in the market.
Green Eyed Monster tries to think of all ways their business can follow sustainable practices and stay consistent with their overall goal of living enviably.
A portion of all sales goes to a network of environmental organizations.
